GO: A Guide to the Game, by D. B. Pritchard. Stackpole Books; 1973.

This is an out-of-print introductory book. It's decent but unexceptional; it has the standard contents for a longish introductory book, is a bit archaic but not too much so, and while I wouldn't dissuade anybody from reading it, it's not as good as the ones that are currently available and there's no need to mourn the fact that it's gone out of print.

There was also a British edition, published by Faber and Faber.
