The Way to Go, by Karl Baker. AGA; 1986.
This is a pamphlet designed to teach beginners the rules of go.
It's a very gentle introduction to the game; it has lots of
examples of every concept that is introduced, so that beginners
get practice telling when groups are connected, how many liberties
a group of stones has, etc. It doesn't make a big distinction
between rules and basic concepts; for example, you learn about two
eyes before learning how to score the game.
It seems like it would be a good book; I haven't used it to
teach people, so I can't guarantee that from personal
experience. The AGA will
send you a free copy if you send them a SASE large enough to
hold a 4.5x6.5 inch booklet. Or, you can now download it in PDF
format.
