Go and Go-Moku, by Edward
Lasker. Dover; 1960.
This is an introduction to go. It has chapters on Fundamentals,
Elementary Tactics, Basic Strategy, Advanced Strategy, and also a
final short chapter on The Game of Go-Moku, go-moku being the game
also known as five-in-a-row or renju. It was originally published
in 1934 by Knopf, though the Advanced Strategy chapter is new to
the 1960 edition. Lots of people in the pre-Ishi days learned how
to play go from this, and we should be grateful to this book for
that, but these days you shouldn't read it because there are much
better introductory books available.
